I thought I'd posted an update...

But I didn't. Thanks, brain!

Apologies for the sporadic posts. I'm really struggling with concentration and memory as fallout from post-concussive syndrome. I'd actually thought I posted in the last couple weeks and was coming here to write an update, but it seems that the post I thought I wrote was all a dream. So, I guess this is both news and update to that news. (Also, my sentences are shorter and more... to the point... than I usually write, because I can't... case in point, I can't keep track of what I'm saying from one moment to the next. Like just happened in the middle of that sentence.) Anyways... Please excuse terrible writing, poor word choice and possible (GASP!) grammar errors. My brain is messed up.

Brain broke

I kinda don't want to write about it, because it's frustrating, but short, point form update.

- still having significant concentration/memory/word recall issues

- depression really, really bad, especially the last say three weeks

- work insurance people have been AMAZING, auto insurance person super shitty (but at least they believe me and have approved me for supports)

- waiting to hear from a rehab specialist to help with the brain injury symptoms

- will still be off work for a few more weeks minimum until symptoms are... (can't think of a good word...) better

- super frustrated that I'm not working and can't even write this damn blog post the way I normally can. I mean, it's called WORKING From The Road ffs.

Vans Keep On Coming

Vanlife V2 is still on, there's just been delays.

I started work on the Astro van with my grandfather. I got the floor installed, and he helped put up one wall in this cool barn board-looking panel.

The next morning, he said basically let's get another van.

😂

It's not that the Astro was a bad van, it's just small. So one day I was working on it, the next day we were driving to Bancroft and bought another van. Seriously. Now I kinda have two vans. The Astro is going to be sold (anyone want a van?), and I've been trying to get the new van on the road.

That was going to be the update to the non-existent blog post!

Basically, the new van - who I'll call Silver for now - has been in and out of Canadian Tire since I think the 6th of June. I took it there for a safety inspection, and to get whatever work was needed done before I headed back to Ottawa and beyond. It took, initially, ten days to get the van back, and when I did, there were still major issues that made the van unsafe to drive any distance, even just in town. Plus I got a nice parking violation.

Sigh. The reason I'd brought it to Canadian Tire in the first place was because I wanted the best possible job done, and for it to be backed up (they have a warranty across Canada on work done in a certain time period). After taking the van to another garage for a second opinion, I took it back (with my grandfather, who's been amazing), and we talked to the manager at length about all the issues still present with it.

Canadian Tire looked at it again, and the next day (or a couple days later, I'm not sure) they said they would fix all the issues with the van, and they'd dropped the ball. They're going to fix it for FREE!

FREEEEEEEE

You're back in my good books, Canadian Tire. Now, I haven't actually picked it up yet. They called yesterday that they had one more thing to do, a seatbelt, and hopefully it will be finished today.

So, hopefully in the next few days I'll have another update, and let you know if I actually picked up Silver.

Stay tuned...
